Maintenance Technician A

Maintenance Technician A - Swing Shift
This position will be responsible for examining and troubleshooting problems to diagnose the cause of a machine or equipment malfunction; perform repairs with minimal downtime; performs preventive maintenance.

Mechanical Responsibilities::
• Reading and understanding Engineering prints and schematics: Must be able to read basic engineering drawings, electrical/pneumatic hydraulic schematics, and understand the symbols, notes and applicable GD&T.
• Fabricating replacement parts: Must be able to fabricate replacement parts in-house for Hoyt OEM equipment and machinery. Fabricate parts for non-Hoyt OEM equipment when feasible.
• Assignment of Capital Improvement projects: Take the lead on all assigned capital improvement projects, at whatever stage it is handed over from the Maintenance Manager. This may include the creation of drawings and sketches, creating a Bill of Material, ordering or fabricating necessary parts, writing or editing PLC programs, assembling and testing the project for use by production, and address potential personnel and equipment safety issues.
• Installation of utility lines: Installs electrical distribution, up to 480 volts and 400 amps. Runs conduit, voice and data lines, liquid and pneumatic plumbing and air lines, as needed.

Major Equipment Servicing Responsibilities: The maintenance Tech A is also responsible to keep all major pieces of machinery and equipment running. This includes:
• Repair of major production equipment and machinery: Examine and troubleshoot problems to diagnose the cause of a machine or equipment malfunction. Dismantle, or partly dismantle, the machine, and perform repair with minimal downtime. Replace broken or defective parts with items from stock. Reassemble the machine or equipment to normal operating conditions.
• Work with outside contractors: Establish good communications with various outside contractors in achieving desired results for machine, equipment and facility maintenance projects.

Minor Equipment and Facility Service Responsibilities: The Maintenance Tech A will also perform equipment, process and facility maintenance tasks as assigned, or needed.

Training and Education:
Associate’s degree, completion of a related trade school program, or equivalent experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Design, research and develop new products: Apply engineering principles and engineering theory to the design and testing of new products. Implements engineering process of conceptualization, developing prototypes, testing, and perfecting to designs, with focus on controlling costs and insuring high product quality. Creates clear and accurate product engineering documentation, including tolerance specifications and detailed dimension drawings. Oversees the testing and evaluation of product function related to performance, durability and safety characteristics. Performs specialized testing such as high speed video, accelerometer and data acquisition when needed. Assists in new product implementation by working with manufacturing, production and purchasing to ensure process readiness and training of factory personal is complete.

Provides engineering support to manufacturing engineering and production department: Assists manufacturing engineering department with development of new and improved manufacturing processes, new machines, and operations to support new product production readiness. Identifies or designs the most efficient and cost effective processes and implements them. Develops action plans for new product production requirements including tools and training for various processes.


Provides engineering support to other departments: Develops new manufacturing processes or tooling as required to support the product needs. Trains production personnel on process requirements.

Quality Assurance: Through interaction with the Quality team and manufacturing areas, performs problem analysis and develops solutions for warranty and quality related issues.

Project Management: Manages assigned projects to ensure they are completed on schedule, within budget and meets all predetermined product requirements.

Quality Assurance Technician

JOB SUMMARY:
While upholding Hoyt’s Policies and Mission and Values Statements, the Quality Technician is assigned to perform calibrations, document control, material review, data entry, and other assigned tasks. Also is responsible for supporting the Hoyt management system and the assurance of quality throughout the facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for Quality Assurance in Production: Responsible for the Material Review for Production. Help collect, disposition, and analyze scrap problems that arise. Enter scrap data and disposition parts. Help analyze and resolve any major issues related to scrap and help with improvement projects.

Product Audits: Will perform product audits to ensure that production processes and inspections in various departments are capable of producing products that meet any required cosmetic and specified dimensional standards. Product audits will focus primarily on, but are not limited to, finished recurve limbs, raw compound limbs, painted risers and limbs and raw parts and handles from machine shop. Will be responsible for reporting the results of the product audits performed.

Create inspections sheets: Assist with the creation of inspection sheets and handle inspection drawings for new parts to be produced in various departments. All drawings and inspection sheets must be reviewed by engineering and management. Ensure that all new parts have inspection plans and inspection tools set up and implemented on the shop floor before the start of production.

Standard Work Audits: Responsible to audit standard work to ensure: 1) It accurately reflects and describes the intended work; 2) that there is no migration away from documented standard work; 3) that the Standard Work is correctly being followed by the employees; and 4) that the department manager has a controlled test plan in place if standard work is being tested for new processes.

Calibrations: Coordinates all calibration of tools at Hoyt and ensures they are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Create new calibration procedures for new measuring devices. Uses database to keep track and status of the calibration of tools. Runs reports and provides calibration procedures for tools needing calibration to departments. Will follow up on past due tool calibrations each month, as required.

Administrative work: Help manage the system flag process. Initiate, investigate, and assign non-conformances or any other potential issues or concerns. Help in resolving the root causes of issues to eliminate long term problems. Assist in the Document Control process by following standard work to control needed documents.

Continuous Improvement: Will assist in continuous improvement projects to help create higher quality throughout the company while reducing costs. These projects will be assigned by management from your supervisor or from other management personnel throughout the facility. Will assist production, engineering, and manufacturing as a waterspider to research problems and give recommendations to solve them.

Additional Responsibilities:
Responsible for general housekeeping of the shop area; works all scheduled hours up to seven days a week including overtime; maintains good attendance; adheres to all safety policies, procedures and rules; adheres to the company’s Tobacco Free policy; and performs other duties as assigned by top management.

I – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Operation, set-up, general maintenance and cleaning of machinery, product quality evaluation: Runs CNC machines at 92% efficiency. Fills out router sheets and SPC (Statistical Process Control) sheets completely and accurately. Accurately reports scrap, completing MRB (Material Return) cards. When necessary. Helps tumble, de-rock, and box all finished small parts as necessary. Responsible for keeping personal tools inventoried and updated. Cleans and maintains designated area within the machine shop to conform to 5 “S” program.

Additional Responsibilities:
Assists in the Buffing department when necessary. Helps to run other machines when operators are absent or on break. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

This includes Prototype, Programming, Set-ups, Tooling, Jig Design and Continuos Improvements as well as ISO Compliance with Routers, Inspection Sheets and Process Control. Standard Work practices are followed to the best of abilities.

I – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Creates all CNC programs: Utilizing Master Cam will create the necessary Alpha Numeric programs that match specifications given by Product Engineering to any specific machined component that has become part of the product line. Uses other auxiliary software as needed to include but not limited to Solid Works, AutoCAD, Bob cam’ Word, Excel, Access, Predator, Digiset and other related Software.

Design all Jigs and Fixtures: Utilizing electronic drawings from Product Engineering; designs, consults and develops with assistance from the team, all fixtures and tooling for the production process of any new component that becomes part of the Machine Shop production line.

Quality Assurance: Works with Quality Assurance and Product Engineering in the creation of Inspection Sheets, BOM’s, Process Control, Gages, Time Studies, Tooling Drawing Control and any additional paperwork required to meet all dimensions on a new part machined by the CNC Centers.

Work Instructions: Utilizing Digital cameras and Cam Recorders which provides Quality assurance with video and photo recordings of the part process for the development of Work Sequences, Work Instructions and Operator training for Standard Work.

Trains Leads and other programmers: Trains leads on new processes. Another essential part of the job is to Identifying potential new programmers and train these individuals for future company growth is of the uttermost importance.

Tool Crib Duties: Recommends tool upgrades as necessary. Deals with various tool vendors and tests new tools, as they become available. Assits in finding solutions to tool breakage issues.

Supports organizational initiatives: Assists in reinforcing procedures and improvement efforts related to quality, customer satisfaction, safety, cost containment and Lean activities. Maintains open lines of communication, sharing relevant information with superiors, peers, and subordinates.

Machine Shop Production Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

While upholding Hoyt’s Policies and the Mission and Values Statements, the Production Manager for Machine Shop is responsible for managing the processes and the employees working in the Machine shop on the applicable shift. This manager will be responsible for reviewing and establishing material, equipment and manpower requirements, and ensuring compliance with all security, safety, quality, quantity, and housekeeping standards (5S program). Oversees repairs on all jigs for the parts being run in the Machine Shop.

I – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Management of the Machine Shop on the assigned shift: Responsible for directing activities and management of the Machine Shop on the assigned shift. Directs activities through subordinate supervisors to attain required production goals consistent with cost, quality and delivery. Coordinates production activities with preceding and succeeding departments in the production flow. Recommends departmental standards and practices. Ensures that all expectations set by the Machine Shop Operations Manager are followed by all employees on their assigned shift, comprising approximately 22 employee. Manages resources including approving vacation, personal leave and sick day requests for all employees working during their assigned shift.

Ensures efficient production flow: Supports the production schedule through effective utilization of resources including spindle up times and daily throughput. Tracks and reviews shift production yields. Ensures compliance with requirements. Recommends and implements process and productivity improvements. Helps in the maintenance and repair of equipment (jig repair, program updates, re-tooling, etc.). Monitors individual efficiency, coaches and re-trains when necessary. Promptly writes up Maintenance Requests and red tags machines when necessary.

Ensures process integrity for all processes within area of responsibility: Ensures that approved and established production processes are accurately documented, controlled and followed to assure quality at the source. Ensures that all production processes are approved by VP of Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering and Product Engineering. Works with QA and Engineering to implement and document any recommended changes.

Process Control: Monitors tool heights, machine offsets, program performance and tool breakage during their assigned shift. Adjusts as required. Helps and monitors all cells to ensure all set-ups are done promptly and efficient. Ensures that operators follow PM sheets. Monitors scrap and tags and quarantines as needed. He is a Member of the Material Review Board. Ensures calibrations are up to date on all equipment used in the shop.
Inventory Control: Monitors inventory and performs or directs cycle count activity to ensure inventory accuracy. Ensures that all inventory procedures are followed by personnel within

Building Security: As required (when working as night shift machine shop manager), will be responsible for building security including lock up and setting alarms at the end of the shift. Responsible for monitoring employee activity limiting wandering to discourage opportunities for theft.

Develops and supports Hoyt’s human capital: Provides coaching and mentoring to department members. Conducts meaningful annual performance appraisals for all subordinates to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for future development. Sets measurable objectives for subordinates that align with the department and company strategy. Provides all relevant functional and technical training to employees. Physical environment – Works in production environment with exposure to varying noise and temperature levels. Some exposure to handling sharp objects. Will be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as required. May be required to stand for long periods of time and to lift up to 60 lbs.

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for strategic planning to improve the manufacturing techniques and machinery to insure the reliability, efficiency, and quality of the products.

I – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Helps Develop and supports the company’s strategy: As a Senior level manager, contributes to the development and implementation of the company’s strategic operating plan. Establishes long and short term strategies for areas of responsibility. Appropriately align department’s efforts to ensure strategic plan success and to improve overall business performance. Supports the cross-functional needs of the company in the engineering, marketing, supply chain, manufacturing, maintenance, sales, customer service, accounting, IT, human resources, legal and all administrative areas.

Develops and manages manufacturing engineering department, manufacturing equipment design and fabrication, manufacturing process design and implementation: Ensures alignment of the Manufacturing Engineering department to the company’s business plan. Sets priorities for key equipment and process projects of strategic importance to the company. Leads and coordinates the efforts of the Manufacturing Engineering department to reduce throughput times, improve efficiencies, reduce scrap, improve product quality, and reduce manufacturing costs. Builds strong inter-departmental relationships through use of cross-functional teams and concurrent engineering practices. Improves technical capability of Manufacturing Engineering department by appropriate use of training and consultants. Identifies Manufacturing Engineering department weakness and addresses them through training, realignment of assignments or new hiring. Performs department administration including capital and expense budget management. Provides cost and payback analyses on all new equipment and process changes. Coordinates and insures that new manufacturing equipment and processes are in place, functional, and adequate to successfully introduce new products on time and to ensure production volumes meet or exceed market demands. Performs problem analysis on equipment and processes and develops solutions for quality problems, production capacity, and product warranty issues. Manages Manufacturing Engineering technician activities through prioritization and distribution of engineering projects to ensure accurate and timely completion of all projects.

Support the R&D and Product Engineering departments; Supports continuous improvement of Hoyt’s R&D and Product Engineering departments. Helps to develop new approaches to improve product development cycle and time to market production. Supports and trains engineering teams to new methods and techniques used to improve engineering functions.

Support Production departments: Provides support to Production areas through development of new processes and machines to improve efficiency and capability. Provides technical support for testing, training and optimization of new and existing methods of production manufacturing. Provides problem solving support for production issues. Provides support to warranty department to ensure repairs are correct and costs are minimized.

Support Maintenance department: Provides support to Maintenance department through: cross-functional training; equipment specifications, design, fabrication and evaluation; plant lay-out design and documentation; regulatory and safety compliance of equipment and process; and capital project evaluations and recommendations.

Develops and supports Hoyt’s human capital: Provides coaching and mentoring to department members. Conducts meaningful annual performance appraisals for all subordinates to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for future development.
