Singapore, December 12 2011
Team Hoyt swept every gold medal in every category in the inaugural stage of the World Cup in Singapore, taking first place in men’s recurve, women’s recurve, men’s compound and women’s compound.
Leading the Hoyt winners was the Honey badger himself, Reo WILDE, winner of last year’s indoor world cup finals. Reo stormed to a first-place qualification round and went undefeated in set play rounds to emerge as the winner of the event for men’s compound taking the gold in straight sets. On the women’s side of the stage, French top compound archer Sandrine VANDIONANT also stormed past her opponents to decisively take the win in the women’s compound category with her Hoyt.
Men’s recurve was hotly contested with some of the top European talent bidding for victory, but in the end the near-home advantage played out in favor of Chinese Taipei Hoyt shooter CHEN Hsin Fu defeating fellow Hoyt shooter Thomas Aubert of France for the gold medal.
Women’s recurve saw Chinese Taipei star and Hoyt shooter YU Wen Yi take the gold in a tense shootoff with teammate WU Chia Hung which was decided by a closest to center tiebreak. Youth Olympic Medalist TAN Ya Ting (TPE) took bronze over fellow Team Hoyt shooter Nathalie DIELEN (SUI) in a closely matched battle.
Next stop for the Indoor World Cup is Nimes, France- the largest event in Europe, before the final stop- the Vegas Shoot. Hoyt is proud to be the Official Bow of the Archery World Cup. Check in for all of the results at www.archery.org, the home of World Archery!
