Team Hoyt makes history in 09 World Cup

4/08/2009

With 4 out of 6 individual medals, and a vast majority of the team medals, won in the first major outdoor performance of the season, the 990TX/GMX has now had the most successful competition debut of any bow in the modern era of the Olympic round.

Hoyt’s Natalia Valeeva and her GMX/990TX led the charge of Hoyt’s dominance of the first leg of the 2009 Archery World Cup in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic this week.

Natalia scored the individual gold medal, a team gold medal, and a new European record. Natalia’s first-place finish is the second in a row for her at the DOM World Cup leg and was a great start to the season for her. Hoyt’s Alison Williamson took the silver medal with her 990TX/GMX in the match against Natalia.

On the men’s side, Hoyt’s Crispin Duenas of Canada shot an incredible performance in the qualifications and eliminations with his 990TX/GMX to take the men;’s silver in the finals. Hoyt’s Simon Terry used his 990TX/GMX to take the bronze over 2004 Olympian Marco Galliazzo, shooting his new GMX/990TX in the finals despite a serious illness that had him dead last in qualification with only six arrows shot.

Not to be outdone, Hoyt’s Ilario DiBuo took the Gold Medal along with teammate Natalia Valeeva in the new Mixed Team competition that debuted in this leg of the World Cup.
