Team Hoyt Heats Up Arizona Cup
PHOENIX - The recent Arizona Cup results prove once again that it's hard to pull Team Hoyt off the podium. Battling hot, windy conditions and a field consisting of some of the best archers in the world, Team Hoyt lead the field in nearly every division.
In Men's Compound action, Hoyt claimed eight of the top 10 spots. Braden Gellenthien and Logan Wilde earned the gold and silver medals, respectively, while Dave Cousins grabbed the fourth spot. Also finishing in the 10 for Team Hoyt were Hafid Jaime, Hoyt Promotions & Pro Staff Coordinator Kevin Wilkey, Eric Bennett, Dave Stepp Jr., and Dugie Denton.
Hoyt's ladies also lead the compound charge, sealing seven of the top 10 spots. Brittany Lorenti won the gold medal match with a one-point margin over her Hoyt teammate Jamie Van Natta. Carmen Santa Cruz took fourth place and Erika Anschutz finished fifth. Diane Johnston, Grecia Gonzalez and Dawn Groszko finished in the top 10.
In recurve competition, Hoyt's shooters also had convincing victories, as Jason McKittrick, Dan Schuller and Crispin Duenas swept the men's medal matches, and Richard Johnson, Jacob Wukie and Hugh MacDonald finished in the top seven. Hoyt's ladies had a great run as well, with Khatuna Lorig winning the bronze medal match, Lindsay Pian finishing fifth and Karen Scavatto earning a top-ten finish.
In team competition, Dave Cousins, Braden Gellenthien and Hoyt engineer Zak Kurtzhals enjoyed a gold medal victory.
Hoyt would like to congratulate all of its shooters on an awesome showing at the 2008 Arizona Cup. Stay tuned for more Hoyt domination as the tournament circuit rolls on.
