World Archery Festival, Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, Nevada, February 2007 Team Hoyt shooters were at the top of their game in the Riviera Hotel and Casino for the 2007 World Archery Festival “Vegas Shoot”, and a familiar face took center stage for an incredible sixth time.
Mary Zorn, now Mary Hamm, returned to Vegas with her husband and new baby, and as she has done five times before, won the Compound Unlimited Female Championship division. Hoyt Pro Christie Colin finished in third place and has been dominant all season, having been in the top three of every pro tournament she has competed in this season.
In the Compound Unlimited Male Championship division there were six Hoyt shooters (Jesse Broadwater, Sergio Pagni, Kale Heuton, Jeff Ward, Rob Morgan and George Ryals) with a perfect 900. Their perfect score placed them in the grueling shoot off round. After two rounds of ten ring scoring and two additional rounds of X ring scoring, Hoyt’s Jeff Ward took an incredible second place victory.
In another incredible display of accuracy, Hoyt pro shooter Jean Marc Beaud finished his final round with an amazing 300 with 30x’s. Jean Marc is only the third person in history to ever accomplish this tremendous feat at the Vegas tournament.
Not to be outdone by their compound teammates, Hoyt recurve shooters had a total sweep in the Classic Limited Male Championship. Hoyt Pro Magnus Petersson of Sweden lead the pack with his Helix/G3, while American Hoyt Pro and USAT member Shawn Rice placed second with his Helix/G3. Meanwhile, French archer Jerome Fiton took third with his Hoyt recurve.
In the Classic Limited Female Championship division Hoyt Pro recurve shooter Naomi Folkard of Great Britain’s National Team used her Nexus/G3 to finish in second place, with Hoyt Pro and USAT member Kendra Harvey using her Helix/G3 to take third.
Congratulations to all of the Hoyt Shooters that competed in the Vegas archery tournament!
